I created this to record all the happiness that I encounter in each day of 2014. Looking back to 2013, I realized how much bitterness I had in my life. However, I realized how my eyes were blinded by the mere cruelties of life that hid its beauty. I created this blog in my search of finding little joys in life and record them and be thankful for them.
Pictures taken with Canon 50D (Jessie) and iPhone 5C.
Credits given if photos I've taken are not mine.
Goal: 365 pictures for each day of 2014. Have a blessing day, everyone <3
Day 222 - Costco Pleasures
There are two things I love about Costco: Samples and Supplies in Packages.
I am a big EOS fan, and I sincerely care about my lip condition for they easily can get chapped. I am also a great lover of things that smell nice, so finding Costco selling EOS in a whole package according to their scents was like finding an oasis in a desert (sort of.. you get the idea).
Now, although I do not really like sweet things (my throat gets all dry and I don’t like it), I sometimes do crave them out of the blue. However, I can’t eat chocolates from Hershey’s (too sweet) or by many other companies other than Toblerone. That triangular usually expensive chocolate is gateway to my heavy for sweets. Although I would have preferred white chocolate, I was content enough when my mom said “Yes” to an entire pack of it.
Finally, my books.
I am a reader. Ever since I read Anne Frank’s Diary, I stopped judging books and I became more patient to read these books and find their purposes. I usually do not like books that exist just for the emotional romantic experience, but I do enjoy the vicarious aspect that the book provides through its characters. Though I may not have the ability to travel to London or Paris or some tropical island, I have attended Hogwarts, traveled back to WWII, and talked with animals through my books. I truly appreciate the offer that Costco provides me as allows me to attain my books more easily at a much lower price. Game of Thrones has been one of America’s most popular television shows, but I desired to get my hands on the original novels instead. I truly thank this opportunity and I can’t wait until I dive deep into this series!

Day 221 - Haircut

"What have I done to myself?" was the first question that popped into my head.

Having a bit stronger degree of OCD, I decided to cut my hair to get rid of my split ends that were starting to appear. Everything was going well until I began to cut my hair, and I cut the first strand a bit (not really) shorter than what I was planning.

In the end, my entire hair length had to be recalculated in my head and cut accordingly.

Of course, people sent me their comforts by complimenting my result despite my first try. School was starting soon and I just wanted to get rid of my split ends, but my first self-cut turned out to be sort of disastrous..

What’s happy about this?: I gained a new experience. Sometimes, things were meant to be learned the hard way, but it doesn’t matter as long as you know how to stand up from the ground and continue your journey (:

Day 220 - Starbucks Date

Today was actually the last day for Koryo Health Foundation volunteer service. Afterwards, Julia and I hung out and talked about life (aka. what girls usually do) and trolled some people. I actually baked a cheesecake for her as she continuously importuned me for it.

Why not? Except.. afterwards I’ve been getting multiples of cheesecake orders… I’m thinking about starting a business (just kidding.. sort of)

During the entire summer vacation Julia and I didn’t have any chance to hang out due to SAT schedules, so we took this perfect opportunity to catch up with one another and share macchiattos <3

She also did my make up, and I feel like I become a whole new person whenever she does it because she’s so efficient at it~

Day 219 - Homemade Caramel Macchiatto
For those who know me: my default coffee is caramel macchiatto. Although the coffee may be bitter, the mystic combination of both caramel, milk, and coffee is indescribable.
Just kidding. I’m quite over exaggerating, but it’s still delicious.
I’m trying to cut down on my coffee spending, so I actually bought the whole Starbucks House Blend pack and made the macchiatto myself. It’s actually quite tricky to get the ratio of caramel, milk, and coffee, right. However, my preference for how much sweetness or bitterness also differs every time, so I do sometimes enjoy the uncertainty of the taste of the drink.
Practice makes it perfect.

Day 218 - How I Eat Ramen
If you have seen this Korean show called Real Men, they eat their ramen like this. Basically these celebrities attend army camps and follow the schedule of other soldiers in the military.
How you can make this ramen (it’s like cup ramen style except in the actual ramen bag) is quite simple:1. Boil water with water boiler2.Open the ramen bag carefully and make sure the other side of the bag is not open3. Divide the ramen into thirds or forths (depends on your preference)4. Pour the soup in (depending on your preference also. I don’t pour all the soup because it gets too salty for me)5. Pour the water when ready just until the noodles seem to be ALMOST submerged6. Close the ramen bag like the photo above and hold it with a NEW chopstick pair that you have not separated like the picture above7. Wait about three minutes and enjoy your ramen (:
I like to eat ramen this way better because I don’t have any dish to wash and it takes less time to make it! I hope you guys will all try this at some point and give me feed backs about your experience <3

Day 217 - Gift Card
Sam oppa (or unni.. shall I say now) and I have been debating and discussing over his Halloween costume for this year. Since he attends school in New Orleans, it was crucial for me to help him out before he left and after months and months of discussion and digression, we were finally able to pick out an outfit for him. What did I get in return? THIS AMAZINGLY GORGEOUSLY BEAUTIFUL STARBUCKS CARD!!!
When I first saw this, I felt so guilty that he actually offered this to me because I feel like I didn’t do much to deserve this card. I did talk to him about this, but in the end… the older person won… -__-;;
But seriously, thank you so much for your offer; I’ll promise that I’ll use this usefully and try to savor it… (although it is very tempting to use it everyday..). Thank you so much!

Day 216 - Cafe Vanilla Frapp
It has been another long day at SAT prep class, and nothing made me happier than one cool drink of Cafe Vanilla Frapp. This frappuccino is Sunny’s favorite, and I have been in love with it ever since Starbucks had it few months ago. It’s not only cheaper than regular drinks, but it also tastes amazing! I seriously recommend anyone who’s having contemplation over what drink he or she should get for the day!

Day 215 - Last Day of Intern

Today was it. It has been a long month for me working at Victorian Medical Care as a Medical Assistant. I was very excited today to fully take a physical of a patient by administering EKG and spirometer. I really thank my nurse Nova, who has been teaching me all the skills necessary to assist the patients, nurses, and doctor. I also thank another nurse, Tracy, for recommending me Inglewood’s local lunch dine out. The food was surplus for me, but I did enjoy its taste. After another hard work, it was nice to sip that cup of coffee while waiting for my parents at a meeting.

I will never forget the hands on experience that I got to have with patients and nurses this summer.

Day 214 - Back to School
Today was a bittersweet day. My school changed the whole policy in which we can check out our schedule as we got our lockers and picked up our books.
Four words that describe our school lockers: It. Is. A. War.
My friends and I woke up and went to school at six-thirty a.m. to line up and wait for gates to open at eight-thirty a.m. Some girls have already waited since five-thirty a.m., so I was the third person in line. Unfortunately, third in line does not matter for this case because I run faster than most of the girls. I swiftly was able to outpace all the girls in front of me as we raced towards the lockers that we want and locked our locks on them. I did my brother (not Joseph) a favor and locked his three other ones.
My friends were pretty irritated for the schedule in which we do not know our teachers until we get our schedule on August 11th, but I was pretty content for the day that I got to have my locker spot (:

Day 213 - Swim

I was so honored to spend a great time at the pool. It’s not a privilege that everyone gets to have, and I am certainly grateful for my friends who invite me and spend time with me. One of my friends is also greatly interested in photography, so he had a nice time with Jessie while I swam away~

Every time I swim I realize more that I am quite fragile physically, but I hope that I’ll be able to challenge my limits and build some muscles before school starts! >:)
